This summer, Manchester United had been heavily linked with a move for Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal. Although, Juventus maintained the stance throughout that their star midfielder won’t be sold but Vidal’s unusual silence over the saga generated massive speculations over his future.
In the end, however, the deal didn’t materialise, as Manchester United didn’t make any official bid for him. United probably were unconvinced with his fitness, while many feel he may not be the club’s first choice target at all.
Vidal has given a long interview to a Chilean newspaper ahead of Juventus’ crunch Serie A clash with Roma where for the first time he commented on the Manchester United transfer rumours.
When asked to share his thoughts on the Manchester United’s strong interest in him, Vidal said as quoted by Tuttosport:
“All I can say is I’m very happy in Turin. My family and their well-being is the most important to me and they feel great here, it’s our home. It’s never easy to leave home.”
Vidal has been in good form this season, scoring two goals already for the Bianconeri. By claiming Turin as his “home”, Vidal has indirectly hinted that he is unlikely to move from Juventus any time soon. He doesn’t want to leave; the club don’t want to sell.
Manchester United despite spending nearly £200m in the summer on new players would be looking to bolster their midfield in the next transfer window. It remains to be seen whether they make one serious attempt to land Vidal or not.
