Reported Manchester United target Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to sign a one year contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain before accepting an eye watering €50 million offer from Qatar.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan stalwart sparked the interest of a host of European clubs, including the likes of United and Arsenal, when he decided against renewing his contract. But reports in the Italian press suggest that the 34-year-old is most likely to extend his stay in the French capital for another year.
The Swedish international, who will be a free agent this summer, confirmed last month that there is strong interest from Premier League clubs.
“Yes, there is an interest, I can confirm that. We have to see where it leads,” he was quoted as saying.
“When the moment comes, when all the cards are on the table, that’s when I have to go through what I want, and then we’ll see who wants it more.”
Ibrahimovic has an excellent relationship with club president Nasser Al Khelaifi, who is also the chairman of Qatar Sports Investments, the company that owns the club. Furthermore, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari royalty and one of the major shareholders at Qatar Sports Investments wishes to offer him a big pay out and wants him to endorse the 2022 FIFA World Cup that is scheduled to take place in the Middle Eastern country.

“The relationship I have with them is only positive. They have done everything they could for me and my family,” he said, paying tribute to the club.
It is believed that Ibrahimovic will extend his current contract raking in the same €12 million per year before heading out to Qatar and earning a potential €50 million, which dwarfs the reported salaries and terms offered by the likes of United, Arsenal and Juventus.
Meanwhile Arsenal legend Thierry Henry revealed to Sky Sports that he ‘heard’ that Ibrahimovic wants to join Arsenal in the summer.
“Who can we [Arsenal] sign? Who’s available? I hear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to come. It’s a problem of who’s going to want to come. Are we going to make the Champions League?,” said the 38-year-old.
“I thought that [Olivier] Giroud did well at certain times during the season. He’s been struggling but hopefully he’s going to bounce back from the two goals in the FA Cup. Zlatan can do a job. And Kante could do a good job. Those guys that people don’t know about are the ones we need to try to get.”
The former Ajax hit-man has been in scintillating form this season scoring 30 goals in 24 Ligue 1 appearances and an impressive 5 goals in just 9 UEFA champions League games. Despite being 34-years-old, the big Swede will be a coup for any side this summer.
