The NAP of the Day on Wednesday, 17 November, according to SportsLens horse racing experts is Stepney Causeway. He makes his debut over fences in the 2m novices’ chase at Warwick today (1:40). This horse appeals as the best value Bet of the Day at odds of 10/3 for various reasons.

Trained locally by Dan Skelton and running in the colours of the Gredley Family best known for Allmankind, Stepney Causeway mopped up some minor events over hurdles last term. A Flat convert to National Hunt horse racing, the four-year-old New Approach gelding could capitalise on question marks hanging over his rivals here. It’s because of them that Stepney Causeway rates the NAP of the Day today. Read on as our tipsters make the full case for him being the best value Bet of the Day at a terrific 10/3 price.

Why will NAP of the Day Stepney Causeway win?
As he comes into this chase bow off the back of a hurdles outing on reappearance, Stepney Causeway should not lack race fitness. He improved for his debut over obstacles at Ascot in January when bolting up by 14 lengths around Catterick. Stepney Causeway then followed-up on that with consecutive wins at Stratford, another local track where the Skeltons boast a fine record.
He landed the four-timer at the Ayr Scottish Grand National meeting with another facile success. Although well-placed by connections last term, Stepney Causeway’s switch to jumps looks all about fences. He was far from disgraced when third in the Masterson Holdings Hurdle during The Showcase at Cheltenham in October. While Stepney Causeway only finished third of four, he clearly needed the run.
The horses home in front of him the last day have real ability. Tritonic, an old rival of Stepney Causeway, won a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle at Kempton last term. The winner, I Like To Move It, has since scored in that grade and completed his hat-trick over obstacles. As Stepney Causeway got much closer to Tritonic than their first encounter, that is evidence of his improvement.
Now that he goes chasing, he remains more open to further progress than the opposition. Elixir De Nutz hasn’t been easy to train at all. Edwardstone doesn’t look a natural from two previous tries over fences either. For Pleasure’s keen style of racing caused a fall last time out. Therefore, Stepney Causeway looks worth a wager and a £25 punt on him at his current price returns £108.33. If he doesn’t win his chase bow, then QuinnBet refunds the losing stake as a free bet.
