It hasn’t been the best of starts to the new season for goalkeeper Joe Hart. First, he fails to keep out what looked a comfortable save from a James Morrison shot against Scotland at Wembley, then he concedes a soft goal for Manchester City against Cardiff…
But Roy Hodgson is keeping faith in his number one. The England head coach said:
“It would take more than a couple of games before we lose faith in a guy who’s proved himself to be England’s number one over a long period. I’m hoping that Joe will use the England time together now to get his confidence restored, he’ll be working with people who believe in him that’s for sure.”
26 year-old Hart has been capped 33 times for the Three Lions since making his full debut against Trinidad & Tobago in June 2008. The stopper was part of the England’s Euro 2012 squad which was eventually knocked out in the quarter finals against Italy on penalties.
England continue their World Cup qualifying campaign against Moldova next Friday before taking on Ukraine in Kiev four days later.
