Chelsea winger Eden Hazard believes Manchester United’s new signing Memphis Depay has the potential to become one of the best in the world.
Hazard admits that he hopes to see Depay fulfil his potential in future, saying the Dutchman is a ‘very good’ player.
Depay scored two stunning goals for Manchester United in the Champions League play off first leg against Club Brugge last week, but couldn’t quite replicate the similar level of performances on Saturday against Newcastle United.
The Dutch winger was praised heavily by UK press following his performance in the Champions League, and it seems he has left a strong impression on Hazard.
“He’s very good, he’s still young,” Hazard said as quoted by Fox Sports. “I saw the game against Brugge, he scored two fantastic goals. I hope for him (he fulfils his potential), but I don’t hope for Chelsea.”
Hazard, who himself is striving to become a complete footballer and reach the levels of Ronaldo and Messi, feels Depay has “a lot of potential” but at this moment difficult to tell whether he can be a world great in future.
Depay is only 21 and appears to possess great technical abilities to become a world class player. He possess pace, strength, awareness and intelligence – all the essential qualities required to be a top winger.
Inconsistency is a common trait among young talents, and Depay is not an exception to that rule, but if he can add goals to his game and keep on improving, he could become a ‘Manchester United #7 great’ in future.
