Liverpool are in a strong position to win the Premier League this season, for the first time since 1990. With the club flying high at the very top of the league, and only a few games to go, there is a genuine belief around Anfield that finally this could be their year. “Make us dream,” they say, while the message is pretty clear – “Anything is possible for those who believe”.

But can they do it? Can they finally become champions of England after 24 long years of suffering? Here’s four reasons why they can:

Confidence

Liverpool’s primary target was to finish in top four this season. Nobody expected them to sustain a title challenge. But now having reached this crucial juncture in title race, the Merseyside giants have everything to play for, as club legend Jamie Carragher insisted Liverpool might not get another better chance to win the Premier League title.

They have gained confidence with each and every victory, and believe they can beat anyone! Truth is, they are not just winning games, but are also doing it in style.

Top of the league, with six games left to go – if they don’t feel confident now, when will they? And this burgeoning confidence is reflected on their playing style as well. Liverpool have not only ripped opponents apart in big games (Arsenal and Spurs), but it seems like they’re thoroughly enjoying life at the moment.

Momentum

Liverpool’s destiny now rests in their own hands. They need to win all six remaining games to become the champions of England again, and they have the perfect momentum at present.

With no defeat in the league in 2014 and eight consecutive wins, the Reds seem unstoppable.

Anfield factor

Liverpool have lost just once in the league this season at Anfield, and that defeat (against Southampton) came in back in September.

The atmosphere is buzzing at the moment at Anfield. As Oliver Kay mentioned – “a huge roar reverberated around this old ground. It was a roar that spoke of longing, desire and a growing, intoxicating sense of belief.”

Both Chelsea and Manchester City are due to visit Anfield and outcome of those fixture will have a massive impact on this three-horse title race.

‘SAS’ papering over the cracks

Liverpool have scored 88 goals this season, more than any other teams in the Premier League, but at the same time have conceded 39 goals, same as Hull City, who are lying in 14th place.

Clearly, attack has been the best form of defence for Rodgers. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have been the scourge of all defenders across the country, with the duo netting 49 goals, more than Tottenham have managed all season.

If the duo can maintain their amazing goal scoring form in the next six matches, Liverpool might well be celebrating at Anfield come May, having finally reached the promised land.
