Former Rangers defender Dorin Goian has claimed that Ianis Hagi will join the club permanently.
The Romanian midfielder is currently on loan at Ibrox and he has made quite the impression already.
Hagi has been a game-changer for Steven Gerrard and he has helped Rangers win games. It would be a mistake to let him go at the end of this season.
Rangers have the option to sign him permanently from Genk and they must do everything in their power to make the move possible.
Goian said (quoted by Daily Record): “Ianis loves Rangers and playing at Ibrox. If he trusts his own talent and his potential, he will win the heart of the Rangers supporters, which is not easy. It all depends on him which path he takes, but I am sure it will be at Rangers.”
Gerrard will be looking to challenge for the title again next year and Rangers need to have a good squad at their disposal. Hagi is the type of the player that will help them bridge the gap with Neil Lennon’s side.
Goian has also revealed that Rangers have the financial muscle to pull off the transfer.
The Scottish giants will have to pay around £4.5 million to sign the player permanently. It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.
Goian reckons that Hagi is enjoying his time at Rangers and he is likely to continue at Ibrox. Furthermore, he also believes that Rangers are impressed with the midfielder.
The fans will certainly be happy with the transfer if it happens.
