Steve McClaren is due to officially take charge of England today (what, 1st August already?), and by the time Greece roll along we would have answers to several questions – the new England captain, who will play at right wing and who will be part of England’s new strike force.

I have officially lost all faith in The Independent as a newspaper of any repute. They have been participating mindlessly in the “double-or-nothing” plays of the rumour brigade and while they often come out looking like twats, I bet they and their readers don’t care as long as they get their daily fix of C-grade BS. Their latest rumour? Manchester United going after Dirk Kuyt.
Kudos to UEFA for having the guts to tell Israel that they need to play their European home matches at a neutral venue. I know what Israel would be going through, but frankly the situation there is far worse than it has been in other countries where matches have been cancelled.
And as part of month-long protest, why doesn’t Ferguson sign Owen Hargreaves?
