Radamel Falcao is having a nightmare start to his Old Trafford career. The Colombian hasn’t recovered fully from calf injury (as per Louis van Gaal /read as Manchester United medical team) and is expected to be sidelined for at least two more weeks.
The former Atletico Madrid striker has joined Manchester United on a season loan from Monaco his summer, but he has wished to further his career with the Old Trafford giants. However, having missed out on last three matches with a calf injury, and hasn’t played for a month, speculations are rife whether United have made a big blunder by signing him in summer.
Falcao injury history
It’s a ‘pity’ says Louis van Gaal. Obviously. For a player of his talent, it’s utmost frustrating for everyone (manager & fans) to see him spending time on the treatment room than gracing the pitch.
Falcao suffered an anterior cruciate ligament/ knee injury last season in January that ruled him out for a considerable period of time for which he missed the World Cup in Brazil. It beggars belief to suppose that Falcao has recovered fully from that injury (which he claims and even criticises media for spreading false rumours) as we have seen in the past good players often struggle to return back to full fitness after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. And often, it leads to one injury after another.
Falcao Injury latest
Falcao suffered this calf injury in training before the match against Chelsea last month. He will now miss this weekend’s heavy weight clash with Arsenal, as well as couple of other Premier League games.
“He has a calf injury and that takes time,” said Van Gaal. “Now it’s four weeks [he has been out] and next week he shall train with the squad, and then he needs two weeks.
Falco himself admitted in an interview that he is hoping to return at the earliest, but admits his knee requires occasional icing.
“I am getting better, I feel well and I hope to come back to the pitch soon,” Falcao said. “It is disappointing that I can’t play, but I have to be calm and recover because that is important to help the team when I return to games.”
