Everton are closing in on former-Barcelona, Internazionale and most-recently, Chelsea striker, Samuel Eto’o.
The Guardian reports that the Toffees are ‘on the brink’ of signing the Cameroonian international on a two-year deal following his release from Chelsea at the end of last season.
José Mourinho brought Eto’o to the Premier League for the first time a year ago following an illustrious career around Europe.
Samuel Eto’o has previously won the Spanish La Liga with Barcelona and the Italian Serie A with Internazionale. He narrowly missed out on becoming the first player to win the ‘treble’ by adding the Premier League to that honours list as Chelsea finished four points behind champions Manchester City.
Eto’o has also won the Champions League with both Barcelona and Internazionale. He is a two-time African Cup of Nations winner with Cameroon for whom he is also the country’s all-time top scorer with 56 goals in his 118 caps.
Roberto Martínez looks to add some experience to his attacking line which currently consists of Romelu Lukaku, Steven Naismith and Arouna Koné.
Naismith and right-back Séamus Coleman scored for Everton on Saturday in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Samuel Eto’o scored nine goals in 21 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season with each of his strikes coming at Stamford Bridge. This included a hat-trick versus Manchester United.
