As tense as it has been in recent years, Manchester United took the lead thanks to Nani who took an excellent first touch of the ball to keep it away from Pablo Zabaleta and nicely put it away past the keeper at the 41st minute mark.
Spaniard David Silva did bring Manchester City back on level terms to their rivals in the 65th minute with a goal that was awarded to him after an Edin Dzeko shot deflected off his back and went past the on-looking Edwin van der Sar.
The battle for glory in the Manchester derby continued and it seems like Wayne Rooney might have won the hearts of Red Devils’ fans back after the whole drama he got himself into. His goal was nothing short of a beauty with a bit of luck involved for sure. United might have earned three points from this game but it was Wayne Rooney alone who came out glorious.
Nonetheless, United has remained unbeaten in the Manchester derby since they last lost at Old Trafford back in February 2008.
