According to Italian website TMW, Mehdi Benatia doesn’t want to travel to Roma’s pre season tour to the US before his future is sorted out. The 27 year old has been constantly linked with a move away from the Giallorossi with Premier League giants Chelsea and both the Manchester clubs interested to acquire the services of the Moroccan.
We had reported last week that Benatia would prefer a move to Chelsea after Roma had earlier rejected a €33m bid from Bayern Munich for the defender. It is now believed that the player is waiting to know about his future as he is training alone in his native country.
The story claims that Benatia has confided in his close friends that he doesn’t want to leave for Roma’s pre season tour to the US. Calciomercato had reported yesterday that Roma are inching closer to River Plate defender Eder Alvarez as Benatia’s replacement.
It also claims that Benatia has agreed terms with Premier League Champions Manchester City who are looking to strengthen their defensive line after the acquisition of Bacary Sagna and Fernando Reges from Porto.
