Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has been linked with a move to Manchester United after it was reported that the German is willing to submit a transfer request in the summer.
The German defender was linked with moves to Manchester United and Barcelona all summer, but he chose to stay put.
However the Dortmund man has struggled to adapt under new manager Thomas Tuchel and is ready to force a move at the end of the season.
Louis Van Gaal is thought to be an admirer and wanted to sign the Dortmund star in the summer but a move never materialised.
It is understood that if the German decides to leave, Manchester United will renew their interest in the player.
Furthermore, Dortmund could be willing to cash in on their star defender considering the fact that he will be out of contract in 2017 and is unwilling to renew.
Hummels is considered as one of the finest defenders in the world and could form the heart of Manchester United’s defence alongside Chris Smalling for the next few years.
Van Gaal has struggled to find the perfect partner for Smalling this season and has had to field different players depending on the opposition.
It would be a big blow for Dortmund if their best defender hands in a transfer request, but there is no doubt that there will be a queue of clubs vying for his signature in the summer once again.
