Liverpool have completed the £25m signing of Southampton skipper Adam Lallana, the club has confirmed. The 26-year-old has penned a long-term-deal at the Anfield club.

The midfielder was recently included in Roy Hodgson’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. However, Lallana and England’s dreams were shattered as they crashed out of the group stages of the competition.

The Southampton skipper becomes second player this summer to transfer from St Mary’s to Anfield, after the Reds earlier signed Rickie Lambert before the World Cup.

The Reds are also keen to complete the formalities of £10m signing of Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen within next 24 hours.

Southampton rejected an initial £20m offer, but Liverpool were prepared to meet his asking price and finally the deal was agreed last week.

Brendan Rodgers’ summer recruitment plans are gathering pace following these acquisitions but the Reds manager is expecting more recruits.

If the reports are to be believed Liverpool are keen on Dejan Lovren and Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno. Furthermore, Rodgers is keen to land Lille’s 19-year-old striker Origi once his involvement with Belgium’s World Cup campaign gets over.

Lallana said: “I’m so excited for the next chapter of my career, coming to a special club like Liverpool.”

“Last season, deep down, I was thinking: hopefully one day I’ll be able to play in that team. That dream is reality now.”

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said: “We’re delighted to have secured one of the Premier League’s top talents.”
