Werder Bremen star midfielder Diego has dismissed reports of him leaving the German Bundesliga club anytime soon as mere speculation. In an exclusive interview with Goal.com, the Brazilian international has said that he is very happy playing in the German Bundesliga.
The former teammate of Robinho at Santos insists that he is very delighted to play for Bremen and has denied any offers from any big club. He is quoted as saying:
It’s always an honour to attract the interest of the top clubs in the world. However, I am yet to hear any offers. It is purely speculation. There has not been anything concrete from them yet.
“Since I joined, a lot has changed. The Bundesliga has evolved a lot in the last few years and right now I think it is one of the best leagues in the world.”
The Brazilian playmaker has been linked with a number of clubs over the past two seasons, especially after he reestablished himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe after an indifferent period at Portuguese giants FC Porto. Even now Diego is severely linked with a move to Italian and European powerhouse Juventus.
So maybe his declaration that he is happy at Juventus should shut down these rumours? But then again, don’t most players say similar things before eventually jumping ship?
