Spain striker Diego Costa has given the biggest hint that he is set to complete a move to Chelsea later this summer.
The 25-year-old, who played a part in Spain’s crushing 1-5 defeat to Netherlands yesterday, has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with the striker reportedly having already completed a medical ahead of a £32m move to West London.
Now, after being asked if he was heading to Chelsea by Spanish station ‘Cadena Cope’, he said: “Well, it looks like that.”
The striker scored 36 goals in 52 games for Atletico Madrid last season, helping them to the La Liga title and the Champions League final, but Costa was powerless to effect the outcome of last night’s mauling, with the Dutch taking Spain apart in a rampant second half in Brazil.
Costa had won a penalty in the first half, throughout which he was roundly booed by many Brazilian fans in the stadium for his defection to Spain from the Selecao last year, and despite Xabi Alonso dispatching the spot-kick, the World Cup holders were on the end of a defeat they will surely never forget.
