David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid met with a catastrophic ending this summer. Despite agreeing a deal with Manchester United, the Spanish outfit failed to register the player on time with the LFP.
Manchester United and Real Madrid later entered a blame game stating how the other party was responsible for the collapse of the transfer.
Either way, the real loser in this case was David De Gea. The former Atletico Madrid keeper pushed for a move all summer and refused to play for Manchester United.
However, now that he has to return to Old Trafford again, the Spaniard is thought to be calm and relaxed.
According to Marca, De Gea has no worries whatsoever about what the United fans might have in store for him. The player is unfazed by the frosty reception at Old Trafford.
The Spanish Daily also claims that De Gea is confident that his options are still very clear and open in front of him and that he is the one who will have the last laugh.
With his balance of power in his favour, De Gea is now looking forward to returning at Old Trafford and could be in contention to face Liverpool this weekend.
Sergio Romero’s antics in goal will have further convinced the Spaniard that he won’t have to spend the season the bench for Manchester United.
It will be interesting to see how Louis Van Gaal and the Old Trafford faithful react to his return, but it is beyond doubt that he is their best player and they would do well to back him as long as he is there.
