David De Gea claims he is happy with his and Manchester United’s progress during the course of this season.

The Spaniard has been in fine form for the Old Trafford club and has alone managed to help Louis van Gaal’s side avoid defeats in the early part of this campaign.

The Daily Mail claims Real Madrid have long been interested in signing the keeper.De Gea is piped to replace Iker Casillas at Real next season.

The 24-year-old has admitted that he is happy with his performance, but believes he can further improve his game in order to become a better player than he is at the moment.

“Yes, I have [improved]. I’m very young and I always try to keep getting better, in every training session, every match, and I think it’s been a very productive season for me. I’m still growing as a player; I’m very satisfied with the season that I and we have had,” De Gea told his club’s magazine Inside United.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper was included in the PFA Team of the Year, which was won by Chelsea star Eden Hazard. He is on the course to win United’s player of the year award this season.

De Gea, on the other hand, believes every player at the club deserves to win United’s player of the year award.

“Every player deserves
to win it. Everyone has done important things for the team. Everyone tries their absolute best to win and gives all they’ve got in training to help the group,” the Spaniard said.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports pundit Graham Hunter says De Gea’s situation at United is complicated. He has just over a year left on his contract and Van Gaal revealed the Red Devils have handed him a new deal, which is worth a lot of money.

With De Gea not committing his future and Real closely watching his developments, Hunter claims the La Liga giants are not keen on having Spain’s two goalkeepers in the same team.

“My opinion is that Real Madrid want to sign David de Gea but, equally, don’t particularly fancy the furore of the Spain No 1 and No 2 either sharing the Liga, Copa Del Rey and Champions League games like Diego Lopez and Casillas did last season,” Hunter told Sky Sports.
