Manchester United superstar David De Gea has admitted the recent speculations linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Earlier, the report from The Mirror suggested that the 10-times European champions could make an approach for the services of Spain international. However, the 24-year-old has played down the rumours and suggested that he feels loved at Old Trafford.
“It is difficult to say whether a bid will be made by Real, because of all the rumours that appear in the press,” De Gea told La Sexta.
“In Manchester I feel wanted. If you took seriously what is written about you, you’d almost think you’re going to a thousand clubs. So the best you can do is pay attention to where you are. I feel very loved by Man United.”
De Gea’s current deal at United runs down at the end of the next season and has not signed a new deal to extend his Old Trafford stay beyond 2016. He has been the first choice keeper at United and has maintained his position even after Louis van Gaal replaced David Moyes earlier in the summer.
United need to tie their keeper to a new contract to fend off any interest from Carlo Ancelotti’s side. He has already played for Real’s local rivals Atletico Madrid and a chance to return to his homeland could be hard to reject for him.
De Ge has been one of the standout players for United in the last few seasons and he has only improved. He kept his 50th clean sheet when the Red Devils sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the last league fixture.
