According to reports from Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito TV David De Gea could have a €35m release clause in his new Manchester United contract. Pipi Estrada, a journalist who also works for Marca has broken the news a few hours ago.

The latest developments cast doubt on whether De Gea and United agreed to a €40m clause as reported by Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web who have quoted English daily The Sun as their source.
De Gea was close to joining Real Madrid on the deadline day of the summer transfer window but his move fell through thanks to a delay in paperwork from either clubs. Since then, the Spaniard has signed a long-term contract with the Red Devils putting end to speculations on his immediate future.
However if El Chiringuito TV’s reports do turn out to be true, it would be welcomed by Madrid who would now believe that United will be obliged to sell if they match the release clause of the player. However on the other hand, United have made a strong point from their behalf that they will not be selling their best players no matter how much pressure they are exerted on.
As we don’t have the exact details of De Gea’s new contract with United, the transfer release clause could also kick in if Louis Van Gaal’s side fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. Thus United are determined to keep hold of the 24-year-old no matter what circumstances they face.
