Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal dropped a bombshell few days ago when he revealed that it David de Gea’s decision not to play for the Red Devils’ season opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spanish goal keeper was not only dropped against Spurs but he wasn’t included against Aston Villa as well. We have heard / read/ covered / all sorts of reports surrounding De Gea’s future and we still don’t yet know which one to believe.
Manchester United are not ready to sell De Gea unless their €40-45m asking price is met. Real Madrid aren’t willing to pay that amount and they would rather wait next season to get him on a free transfer.
Spanish newspaper El Confiencial claim today that De Gea is unhappy with the public bashing made by his manager. He will continue to train with the side knowing that his agent Jorge Mendes will keep his promise, i.e to find a solution so that he could be transferred to Real Madrid in the summer.
In fact, Mendes was appointed by De Gea as his agent three years ago with the purpose of taking him to Real Madrid once his contract ends / nearing the end at Manchester United. That’s why, if the deal doesn’t materialise, doubts remain whether Mendes will still continue to be De Gea’s agent in future.
Spanish newspaper Sport (newspaper edition) claim today that De Gea is preparing a transfer request in order to force a move away from Old Trafford.
Anyway, all these stories are hard to believe. Why would De Gea do such stupid things at this stage of the transfer window when he could have easily done that one or two months ago? Furthermore, the idea of hiring an agent to get him a transfer to Real Madrid is not convincing either.
