Chelsea team to beat as rivals fall by wayside

The FA Cup would appear to be Chelsea’s to lose following the exit of another big four rival this weekend.

With Arsenal joining Liverpool and Manchester United on the FA Cup sidelines Paddy Power now have Chelsea the 6/4 favourites to win the FA Cup with apparent cup specialists Manchester City their nearest rival at 10/3. City are 12/1 to complete the Cup double this season ahead of the Carling Cup semi-final against neighbours United on Wednesday.

Having been offering 5/4 on the field versus the Big Four at the start of the year Paddy Power now have the rest at 1/2 to Chelsea’s 6/4 as the only remaining Big Four team in the competition. And as the only Big Four club left in the cup Chelsea are 7/2 for the league and cup double and 20/1 for the treble with the Champions League whilst Carlo Ancelotti’s team are now 11/4 to end the season without any silverware.

Chelsea are 8/1 to follow their Big Four compatriots by exiting the cup in the next round at the hands of Cardiff and with struggling Portsmouth having to travel to rejuvenated rivals Southampton it could be another round of shocks in the 5th Round. Paddy Power are betting 125/1 that there are just three Premier League teams in the last eight, 11/10 for six and 13/8 for the maximum possible of seven.

Player of the Year
Wayne Rooney’s first four goal haul of his career at the weekend has seen the Man Utd forward emerge as a clear favourite for this year’s PFA Player of the Year. Rooney has been cut from 2/1 to 13/8 with his nearest rival Cesc Fabregas at 15/8. The only likely challenger to the two front runners, Chelsea’s Didier Drogba, has drifted to 11/2 from 9/2.
