Serie A giants Inter Milan have beaten Chelsea in the race to sign Lazio winger Antonio Candreva. A deal has been agreed for the Italy International and he could be presented as early as on Monday.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old winger this summer with Antonio Conte putting him near the top of his transfer wishlist. The interest seems to have died down from the Blues as Conte focuses on bolstering other areas of need.
According to reports from Gazzetta world, Candreva is all set to join Inter with a transfer fee in the region of €25m being agreed for the winger. However, the manner of the payment is yet unknown. Inter are likely to pay either €21m plus €4m in bonuses or €22m plus €3m.
Gazzetta claims the player will travel to Milan for his medical and will be officially presented on Monday. The player will sign a four-year contract at a salary of €2.7m per season, plus bonuses. A long-term deal at this stage of his career means he could spend the rest of his playing days at San Siro.
Lazio President Claudio Lotito was determined to keep a hold on his valuation of the player and forced Inter to meet their demands. The Nerazzurri are likely to sell in order to balance the book as the club struggling to fit within UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.
