The transfer window is now closed. But, there’s no stopping of rumours in the press. We will therefore continue to update all the latest gossips and rumours.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has targeted German midfield maestro Sami Khedira and have already held talks with Real Madrid over a possible summer move.
According to reports from talkSport, Khedira, who was a firm favourite of Mourinho during his time at the Spanish club, wants to midfield man to join him at the Stamford Bridge next summer.
The 26-year-old, who was targeted by Manchester United last summer, has failed to guarantee regular first team-action under Carlo Ancelotti this season and even voiced frustration at being used as a scapegoat for Madrid’s poor start to the campaign.
“I’m not a Spanish player, I did not cost a lot of money and I am one of Mourinho’s disciples,” said Khedira as quoted by Kicker. “I started the season on the bench or in the stands. Even if I play well, I am the scapegoat and so will not be properly valued.”
Khedira suffered a serious knee injury that has ended any hopes of a move in the January transfer window and he may well miss the World Cup in Brazil.
Chelsea have already signed Nemanja Matic from Benfica, but it seems like Jose Mourinho could be looking to add more quality to the side, especially with Frank Lampard approaching the apogee of his career.
Real Madrid have excelled without his absence with big-money summer signing Asier Illaramendi and former Tottenham player Luka Modric largely impressing in midfield. Xabi Alonso has also penned a new contract at the club which means Khedira could drop further down the pecking orders and may deemed surplus to requirements at the club – though Ancelotti is yet to decide whether or not to sell the midfield maestro.
