The longest winter transfer saga continues to go through the gears, with Monaco’s Radamel Falcao still perennially linked with a move to Chelsea, despite the best efforts of Jose Mourinho to rubbish all rumours of a January bid.
The Portuguese boss, who has publicly criticised his existing strike force in recent weeks, has insisted that Chelsea will not participate in the upcoming winter market.
Yet according to ‘Le10Sport’, the Blues are still very much in the hunt for the Colombian, Falcao; with the striker’s relationship with Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri recently on the rocks.
The rumoured €100m price tag has resurfaced, one that we first reported at the start of the month; and the French newspaper claim that dealings between the two clubs will remain top secret, and away from the prying eyes of the mainstream media.
They also state that Real Madrid are interested in the 27-year-old, with the Spanish giants only with Karim Benzema as a big-name striker on the books.
Meanwhile, Man City are gearing up to battle PSG for the signature of young defender Fabinho.
Le10 report that the Ligue 1 leaders have singled out Fabinho – who is currently on a season long loan at Monaco from the Brazilian side Rio Ave – as the man to fill the right-back position at the club, having been impressed with his speed, technique and dynamism.
The French newspaper reports that there has already been contact with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, as PSG boss Laurent Blanc looks to lay early foundations so as to beat the transfer rush come January.
Man City have now reportedly shown an interest in the 20-year-old, amid rumours that Micah Richards may be deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
Fabinho would be in competition with Pablo Zabaleta at City, and with the Argentine still not a guaranteed starter under Manuel Pellegrini, the Brazilian may just fancy his chances in the Premier League.
