Swansea striker Fernando Llorente is expected to join Chelsea on loan this month.
Daily Star are reporting that Antonio Conte’s side have agreed on a loan deal with the Welsh outfit for Llorente. The former Juventus striker will serve as a backup to Diego Costa now. Apparently, Swansea are close to signing Aaron Leya Iseka and therefore they are willing to let go of Llorente.
The Spaniard has a similar playing style to that of Diego Costa and is experienced enough to be his backup. Also, Conte has worked with Llorente before and is well aware of his strengths. The report from Daily Star adds that Conte sees the Spaniard as an ideal deputy to Costa.
The Swansea striker has scored 6 goals in the Premier League so far. The 31-year-old has also won the World Cup and the Euros with Spain and has plenty of winning experience which could prove to be vital for Chelsea in the title race. Llorente has also won the Serie A under Antonio Conte.
Llorente’s arrival would push Michy Batshuayi further down the pecking order. The Belgian started against Peterborough in the FA Cup, but he is expected to go out on loan for the remainder of this season. The former Marseille star has hardly featured under Conte and is in desperate need of regular first team football.
Swansea were linked with the Chelsea striker earlier this week, but it seems that Iseka is their preferred choice.
