According to reports in the trusted Merseyside based media outlet Liverpool Echo, Chelsea have agreed on a season long loan deal for young midfielder Christian Atsu to Everton.
The 22 year old Ghana winger will undergo a medical early next for the Goodison Park outfit after which the official announcement is set to be made. Earlier this week the Independent had reported that the loan deal had fallen though after Chelsea were convinced that the player won’t get enough game time for the Toffees.
However it is believed that Everton manager Roberto Martinez has identified the player as a perfect replacement for Barcelona’s Gerard Deulofeu who enjoyed a successful loan stint for the Blues in the 2013-14 season.
Atsu had earlier signed for Chelsea from Porto on a five year deal last summer for £3.5m. However, the player spent the season on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnheim scoring five goals in 28 appearances.
The pacy winger impressive in his maiden World Cup campaign in Brazil with some dazzling performances despite Ghana’s early elimination from the group stages.
