Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has informed the club that he does not wish to sign a new deal.

The Senegal international has been a target for Chelsea all summer and Antonio Conte is thought to be an admirer of the Serie A defender.

Koulibaly had an impressive season with Napoli last year and the Italians are reluctant to sell their best defender, especially after sanctioning a sale for Gonzalo Higuain to their direct rivals Juventus.

Italian media are reporting that Chelsea are about to submit a bid in the region of 37 – 40 million Euros plus add-ons for the Napoli star and will offer him wages of around 3.75 million Euros per season. The Blues are looking to sign him on a five-year deal.

The report adds that despite Napoli’s reluctance to sell, Chelsea’s offer is considerable and the Italian club will consider it.

Earlier this summer, his agent also confirmed that the player will complete a transfer away from Napoli.

Koulibaly would be a quality addition alongside Kurt Zouma. The Frenchman has only just recovered from his knee injury and will need time to get back to his best. With John Terry, Gary Cahill, and Ivanovic regressing, Koulibaly is a much-needed addition for Antonio Conte.

The Senegal international was a target for Manchester United as well. Daily Mail reported earlier this summer that the Red Devils were scouting the Napoli star. They also submitted a bid for him later.
