Yes, you read it right. Chelsea are plotting a brilliant move to secure a deal for long term Manchester United midfield target William Carvalho.
The highly rated Sporting midfielder has been in tremendous form this season and has a release clause of €45m. Sporting, who owns 60% of the player’s economic rights, are keen to secure his services for one more year before selling him abroad, while have made it clear they’ll only sell the player, should the offer is right.
British press have continuously linked Manchester United with a move for the midfielder with some sources even claimed a deal had already been agreed.

Chelsea were thought to be heavily interested in him, a story we reported back in November, but following the purchase of Nemanja Matic from Benfica in the January transfer window, the interest had somewhat died down.
A Bola now reports, though they cite English press as their primary source, that Chelsea have reignited their interest and are preparing cash plus player offer to secure the deal.
The Blues could include Marko Marin, who is plying his trade with Sevilla on loan, while making offer for Carvalho. They are studying the possibility of offering cash plus Marin instead of paying the €45m of his buyout clause.
The problem is Marin’s salary is way above Sporting’s maximum wages, while the German seems well settled in Spain and could be looking to continue his career there.
To be honest, we are not giving too much credence to the news. First of all, A Bola is just publishing a story based on report in England and secondly, we doubt whether Chelsea at all need any defensive midfielder in the summer.
