€20m January transfer on the cards for Chelsea midfielder

Just a season ago, Juan Cuadrado was reckoned as one of the hottest young prospects across Europe. The Colombian was in stunning form for Fiorentina and several top European clubs including Manchester United and Barcelona were eager to acquire his services. Though he stayed put at Florence that summer, he was sold to Chelsea for a £27m deal in the winter transfer window earlier this year.

However the 27 year old found first team football hard to come by at Stamford Bridge and failed to justify his price tag with the limited chances that he had. With the arrival of Pedro in the summer, Cuadrado was sent to Juventus on a season long loan deal. It is here in Turin that the 27 year old has found his old form and looks sharp under manager Max Allegri.

Cuadrado had a superb game in midweek in the Champions League against Sevilla in midweek and Allegri believes that player can be unstoppable in the coming months thanks to frightening pace and trickery on wings.

The Daily Express reports that Cuarado has hinted that he wants to stay at Turin and is very happy with his decision to join the Bianaconeri in the summer. After the Old Lady’s 2-0 win against Sevilla, Cuadrado was quoted saying,”We played very well against a great side like Sevilla, so I am happy. I was so happy from the moment I arrived and my teammates gave me a warm welcome. I have always been at the disposal of the coach and the team.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato reports that Juventus directors Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici are grateful to Cuadrado’s agent Alessandro Lucci, who brought his client to Turin. It is reported that Chelsea manager Joss Mourinho’s wanted to send Cuadrado on loan with a clause in the contract which would have included a mandatory buy on clause in the future.

Lucci though managed to bypass the clause and the report states that Juventus are now willing to offer €20m plus bonuses of €2-3m to Chelsea for Cuadrado’s permanent services. The Bianconeri will hold talks with Chelsea and want to close the deal in the Januray transfer window.
