Chelsea have reportedly big plans for Conor Gallagher who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace.
The 21-year-old has been spectacular for the Eagles this season. He has made 10 appearances in the Premier League, scoring four goals and creating two assists in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).
The midfielder also earned his name on the scoresheet in Palace’s 2-0 win over Wolves earlier this month.
With that victory, the Glaziers have now climbed to 10th position in the league standings.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Chelsea have been very pleased with the young player’s development and want to provide him the opportunity to break into the first team next season.
It is said that the club refused to include an option to buy when they were listening to loan offers for the English footballer last summer.
Newcastle United and Leeds were reportedly interested to sign him on an initial loan deal that contained the option of making the move permanent at the end of the season.
However, the Blues were adamant about not including any such clause in any deal for the 21-year-old.
Crystal Palace eventually signed the England international on loan and that has proved to be a great decision so far.
Conor Gallagher started his career at Epsom Eagles before switching to Chelsea in 2008.
His performances were impressive for the club’s youth teams but has yet to earn his senior debut at Stamford Bridge. However, that looks very likely to change next year.
