Chelsea have suffered an injury blow as Radamel Falcao will miss the next few weeks of action due to a muscle injury.

Jose Mourinho confirmed he will be without the services of the Colombian international and will rely heavily on Diego Costa and Loic Remy in the South American’s absence. The 29-year-old picked up an injury while training with his teammates on Tuesday.

“Today Falcao picked up an important muscular injury and he will be out for a few weeks,” Mourinho said, as reported by Sky Sports.

Chelsea face Dynamo Kiev in the midweek Champions League clash on Wednesday and Costa was likely to start against the Ukrainian club. Injury to the former FC Porto star will see Remy be the second choice striker in Falcao’s absence.

Falcao joined the Premier League champions on loan from AS Monaco earlier in the summer transfer window, following a disappointing season-long loan spell at Manchester United. The former Real Madrid manager had hopes of helping the striker regain his old form.

However, the Blues striker has made only two starts since making a switch to Stamford Bridge. Lack of appearances with the west London club has seen him being linked with a move away from England.

According to the Daily Mail, Italian giants Inter Milan are willing to sign Falcao when the transfer window opens in January. However, the Serie A outfit will only sign him if the player is open to the idea of taking a pay cut to his £145,000-per-week wages.
