Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is optimistic about his side’s chances of retaining the Premier League title, as he believes that Chelsea will drop points and they are not a “winning machine”.
Chelsea, courtesy of their 3-2 victory over Hull City on Sunday, have moved six points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand.
Man City in the previous seasons have shown great character of coming from behind and winning the league, and Pellegrini believes this time it could be no different.
“I don’t think they are a winning machine all the time,” he said as quoted by ESPN.
“I think you ask me maybe two or three weeks before I am sure from now until the end of the season every team will drop points so it’s important to return to our normal performance and win our games.
“After that we will see what happens with Chelsea. Maybe we can win all the games and maybe we can retain the title. The important thing is they must feel pressure. If you don’t win it’s easy for them. We depend just on these eight games at least to finish in the same position we are now.
City recovered from the recent wretched run (having lost four times in five matches) with a 3-0 win over West Brom on Saturday.
