Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to sign N’Golo Kante from Leicester City. The French midfielder is all set to sign a five-year deal at the London club.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, Kante is one the verge of a move to Chelsea after a €35m fee has been agreed between the two clubs.
I don’t speak French, so I’m basically reporting the story what Get French Football News has covered:
“According to today’s edition of Le Parisien, French international and central midfielder N’Golo Kanté is on the verge of a move to former Premier League champions Chelsea after a €35m fee was agreed between the two clubs, a sum that is notably higher than the player’s release clause (€26m).
N’Golo Kanté is now set to join Antonio Conte’s men on a five year deal in perhaps even the coming hours.”
On Tuesday, The Telegraph ran a story where they claimed Chelsea were hoping to seal a deal for Kante by meeting his £20 million release clause and fend off interest from Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.
However, Leicester are still trying to make a last-ditch attempt to convince him to stay put for one more season. According to the latest report from The Telegraph, the Foxes are ready to make Kante their best-paid player in an attempt to prevent him from leaving the club.
Leicester have already offered the midfielder a lucrative £100,000 a week which Kante has turned it down. The Premier League champions are now preparing an improved offer for him, however, judging by the story from Le Parisien, it seems Leicester are left with no options now than to say goodbye to their combative midfielder who played such a key role in Leicester City’s incredible Premier League win last season.
