Arsenal were the Big Four winners of the topsy-turvy Premier League weekend with bookie Paddy Power cutting the odds on The Gunners winning the title from 8/1 to 11/2.
With Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool and Spurs all failing to win at home a shake-up was seen in the betting with United drifting to 9/4 from 15/8 and Liverpool now all but out of the title race for another year at 66/1 from 40s. Rafa Benitez’s team are now 6/5 from Evens to secure the coveted top four finish, the same price as rivals Man City, whilst the Anfield team are 2/1 for a fifth place finish and 15/8 for sixth or worse.
Chelsea remain odds-on favourites at 4/6 but if they continue to drop points as freely as they have of late their price will get longer.
For Arsenal the focus now has to be consistency and that means seeing off Burnley and Hull this week otherwise the result at Anfield becomes insignificant. Winning at Anfield will boost confidence in the team but they all know that they need to get six points this week to keep the pressure on the two teams above them.
