Barcelona have been linked with quite a few wing-backs over the last few months, and the latest addition to that list is the Chelsea winger Victor Moses. The Nigerian winger has impressed as a wing-back under Antonio Conte and Spanish publication Sport are reporting that the Catalan giants want to sign him.
Moses spent most of his time at Chelsea away on loan, but it seems that the 25-year-old has finally established himself as first-team regular at Stamford Bridge. Recently, Conte revealed his admiration towards Moses in an interview and mocked his predecessors for overlooking the former Wigan star. Moses has been a key member of Chelsea’s first team this season, and he has added a new dimension to their play with his tendency to bomb forward from the defence and work hard.
As per Sport‘s report, Barcelona have been following him intensively and have watched him live three times already. The Camp Nou outfit are thought to be impressed with his versatility.
Apparently, the Spanish champions are looking to sign someone who can be effective going forward and defend as well. Moses has shown that he can fulfil both responsibilities over the last few weeks. Furthermore, the Catalan giants like his physicality and believe that he can be an asset for them in La Liga.
Barcelona were heavily linked with Hector Bellerin over the last few months, but the Arsenal star signed a new long-term contract at Emirates, and therefore Moses appears to be an alternative. Barcelona are looking for a long term replacement of Dani Alves, and are not impressed with their new signing Aleix Vidal.
Moses is contracted to Chelsea until 2019, and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to let him go. Antonio Conte is clearly fond of the player and if the reports of Barcelona’s interest are true, the Blues might just decide to renew Moses’ current contract in order to keep him at the club.
