In an astonishing turn of events, Serie A champions Juventus have offered dynamic young Frenchman Paul Pogba to Spanish giants Real Madrid in exchange of Angel Di Maria. French daily L’Equipe have reportedly featured the story and it has been relayed by Madrid based newspaper Marca and Italian website TMW.
The report claims that Juventus manager Atonio Conte has been interested in Di Maria since last season and is now determined to bring the player to Turin in the summer. The Argentine had earlier dazzled with the Los Blancos in their Champions League winning season and has performed superbly at the World Cup in Brazil.
The recent developments however would be bad news for Manchester United who are reportedly set to pay a record breaking fee to snap up the Argentine from the Bernebeu outfit.
It is believed that the Old Lady know that Pogba will not renew his contract once it ends in 2016 and the Bianconeri want to take full advantage before they are embarrassed to lose a player of the Frenchman’s potential.
The PSG situation looks enticing: In fact French Ligue One Champions Paris St Germain are willing to pay a whopping €70m for Di Maria as reported by Spanish newspaper AS. Although Real manager Carlo Ancelotti wouldn’t want to lose one of his prized assets but it would be tough for any club to reject the crazy money that is on offer.
The Toni Kroos angle and Soccerlens view: We had in fact reported that renowned agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to bring Di Maria to Old Trafford. The winger who despite having a contract at the Spanish capital till 2018 had earlier said,” I don’t know if I’ll stay at Real Madrid, we’ll see what happens.”
The Galacticos definitely would settle for a cash deal rather than a player exchange and with Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos being strongly linked over the past few days, Juventus’ offer, though enticing might be rejected. PSG look to be in pole position entirely due to the offer they are set to put on the table. This would lead to one question for the Red Devils faithful. Will Di Maria ditch Champions League aspirations to sign for Manchester United, who are set to usher a new era under legendary manager Louis Van Gaal?
