This game takes added interest as Aston Villa fans will be demanding they bounce back from the Arsenal defeat whilst Liverpool fans will hoping that their team can put back to back wins together and finish 2009 on a high.
Paddy Power’s betting is leaning ever so slightly towards an away win, but bare in mind Villa have already beaten Liverpool at Anfield and will think they didn’t deserve the 3-0 scoreline at The Emirates. Punters will be sniffing around the 7/4 on a Villa win for sure, there’s not enough evidence to suggest they can’t bounce back.
Liverpool on the other hand may relish the opportunity to pit themselves against one of the top teams, Torres and Gerrard are both starting matches and trying to regain fitness, 6/4 for an away win may not strike punters as being a good bet however Liverpool haven’t lost at Villa Park since 1998!
7/4 Aston Villa Win
23/10 Draw
6/4 Liverpool Win

As usual Fernando Torres leads the scorer markets at 9/2 but he’s still trying to find his form and wont relish the roughing up that Richard Dunne will undoubtedly give him but World Class strikers only need a glimmer of chance and they can win a game. For The Villa Gabby Agbonlahor and John Carew are both 6/1 chances for the first goal, Liverpool’s defenders can expect a battering from Carew whilst Agbonlahor will expose any lack of pace across the back four.
In the midfield James Milner will get the chance to pit his wits against Steven Gerrard, both are certs to go to South Africa and it will be interesting to see if the young Villa upstart and get the better of the Liverpool captain.
