Arsenal agree personal terms for Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal are desperate to sign a striker this summer and the Gunners have set their sight on landing Alexandre Lacazette from French club Lyon. The Gunners have had an opening €35m bid rejected by the club but it seems they are looking to test Lyon’s resolve with an improved offer in the coming days.

According to an exclusive report from Le 10 Sport, Arsenal are planning to return with an improved bid (has to be over €40m, surely) for the striker, who scored 21 goals in the Ligue 1 last season for Lyon.

Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, has stated time and again that he wishes to keep hold of his star player but the club could be powerless to prevent him from leaving should a better offer come in their way.

Le 10 adds that Wenger is increasingly confident of the deal because he knows Lacazette wants to join the Gunners while personal terms of the deal have been sorted.

Let’s not get too carried away with the report right now. Although Le 10 has improved in their coverage over the past one year but they still have a poor track record when the reliability of a report comes into question.

According to Get France Football, Lacazette’s agent, David Venditelli, likes to keep a low-profile and generally refuses to stay in touch with media. Likewise, Arsenal also like to keep things private with their transfer dealings. So, it is highly possible the Gunners and the player may have an agreement in principle, but then again, it’s better to wait and see how things unfold from here on.
