Real Madrid are reportedly turning their attentions to Manchester City’s star striker Sergio Aguero and could involve Sami Khedira or Karim Benzema as part of a swap deal.
Aguero, who signed a new contract with City in the summer, revealed back in August that he rejected “one of two” offers from Madrid to further his career at the Etihad.
He told The Sun in an Exclusive interview published on 26th August:
“One or two offers might have been around, but I was not interested in them,”
“The thing was to stay where I was enjoying my football. I am very happy with Manchester City. I love Manchester. I have signed for another year.”
English tabloid Daily Star reports today, that Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to add more stardust to his side, and hence would be looking to land their long term target Aguero.
However, we scanned through major newspapers in Spain today and there has been nothing regarding this story. The English tabloid have quoted Infoticker.ch, a Switzerland based news media, the source for their story.
We have checked major news media in Argentina this morning as well, but nothing has been written about this. But, Latin America based website Numero Ocho has run this story but they’ve not mentioned their source.
Without going into the possibility of this transfer, one can easily make out that linking Aguero to Madrid doesn’t need rocket science and one just need to regurgitate the old transfer stories. Also, the future of Benzema and Khedira has been well speculated in the media as well.
It was reported that the German midfielder could leave Bernabeu in this summer to ply trade in England, following the path of compatriot Mesut Ozil, who joined Arsenal on the transfer deadline day from Real Madrid. So, connecting all the dots to form the story is highly possible in this case.
