Chelsea have recently completed the signing of Michy Batshuayi as a back up striker for next season.

However, the new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is now looking to sign a first choice forward as well.

Spaniard Diego Costa has apparently put in a transfer request and the Italian manager is looking to make other arrangements in case the club fail to hold on to the former Atletico Madrid striker.

Alvaro Morata is a target for several European clubs this summer and the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are likely to provide tough competition to Chelsea for the Real Madrid player.

Reports from Spain (via Sportwitness) claim that Antonio Conte has already provided the player with some assurances that he will play a key role at Chelsea. Morata was willing to leave Juventus earlier this summer because of the lack of opportunities last season and a promise of game time could well be a huge factor in his decision now.

Real Madrid only signed him to move him on for a profit and cannot offer him regular first team football.

Apparently, Conte is in contact with Morata almost regularly and has big plans for him at Stamford Bridge next season.

If Costa does leave, Morata would be a very good addition for the Premier League giants. Furthermore, the arrival of the Real Madrid striker will also aid Costa’s desire to leave the club. Morata has had a very impressive Euro 2016 this summer and has shown that he is ready to lead the line for a top European side now.

Chelsea have submitted a €60m bid for Morata and are waiting on Real Madrid’s decision now.

It will be interesting to see if Conte calling the player regularly will have a positive effect on his transfer decision now.
