Victor Valdes’s agent says the Manchester United goalkeeper needs to leave Old Trafford in January after being frozen out by Louis van Gaal.
The former Barcelona keeper has fallen out with Van Gaal and has been banned from training with his teammates. He certainly has no future at Old Trafford and is likely to leave the club in January.
Several Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle have showed interest in him, while there has been reported interest from La Liga club Sevilla as well, although his agent says Valdes is unlikely to return to Spain.
“I am sure about this,” said Gines Carvajal, Valdes’s agent, in an interview with Marca.
“It is obvious he must leave in January, and we are looking to find a move that he likes. My personal opinion is it won’t be Spain, unless he says something different.”
It seems unlikely that either Chelsea or Liverpool would want to sign Valdes, but a move to Newcastle cannot be ruled out. Steve McClaren would want to sign a new goalkeeper after Tim Krul has been ruled out injured for rest of the season, and Valdes could be an ideal fit for the Magpies.
Manchester United made €35m bid for Oblak?
According to reports from Sport, via Sport Witness, Manchester United made a €35m bid for the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, but it was rebuffed.
David De Gea, United’s first choice goalkeeper was on the verge of sealing a move to Real Madrid (the deal only broke down at the last minute) and although United were happy to accept Keylor Navas as a part of the deal, it seems Oblack had been the club’s first choice.
Meanwhile, De Gea has signed a new four year contract at United, although speculation is rife that there is a €€40m release clause inserted into his deal.
