According to reports from Bein Sports, Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is far from signing a new contract with the San Siro club, the situation which will surely alert Chelsea and Manchester United.
The 22 year old has been in superb form since joining Inter from Sampdoria in the summer of 2013. The Nerazzurri are thus desperate to hand the striker a new and improved deal. The Argentina has so far hit the back of the net 16 times in 31 appearances this season.
We had earlier reported that bother Chelsea and United are linked with the €35m rated striker. In fact the Blues had a meeting with Icardi’s agent while Manchester United were also scouting the player in the past few weeks.
Inter Sporting director Piero Ausilio had recently revealed that the club have already discussed with Icardi’s agent Abian Morano a number of times to hold talks and a deal is imminent. However, the player himself has claimed that there are still a lot of things that need to be ironed out first.
It is believed that Icardi earns a net €1m per season and Inter have offered €2.8m a season, but they are still discussing the image rights. The club’s General director Marco Fassone, meanwhile, is hopeful an agreement will be reached.
“There have a number of meetings. We have expressed our desire to renew his deal and to hold on to him. I believe that there’s also a desire to extend on Icardi’s part and that there is a will to wrap things up shortly.”
