Well, let’s admit it. Fabio Borini’s adventure in the top flight of English Football has been nothing short of a disaster. The Italian who signed for Liverpool in 2012 has hardly made an impact for the Merseyside giants. To be true with Borini, the 23 year old has rarely got his chances at Anfield. We reported last week that he has been frustrated by the lack of game time and could leave in the upcoming January transfer window.
Borini though gave a good account of himself in midweek, starring in Liverpool’s 2-1 comeback win over Swansea in the Capital One Cup. Manager Brendan Rodgers also praised the forward crediting his attitude, “I thought Fabio was outstanding against Swansea,His pace, movement and work-rate gave them problems. You really saw his character the other night. He’s very determined and he showed that in the game.”
However the former Roma striker’s future is far from secure at Anfield. According to TMW who have cited FC Inter News claim that Inter Milan are looking at the possibility to get Borini on loan in January with an option to buy in the next summer. Borini’a agent however openly came out in public saying that his client is determined to succeed at Liverpool and is working hard in training sessions for a chance to show his quality on the pitch.
This leads Liverpool to a tricky situation. With summer signing Mario Balotelli drawing blanks so far in the Premier League, the Reds might be looking to bring in a quality striker in January. However, Borini’s performances against Swansea suggests that he can still make an impact is given the chance. So will the Italian finally make the grade in the red half of Merseyside or will be shipped to Inter in the winter transfer window? These are interesting times for Liverpool.
