Chelsea need a left-back in the summer. Ashley Cole, who has announced a shock retirement from International football, could be all set to leave Chelsea as well, following the expiry of his contract.
Right back Cesar Azpilicueta was used as left-back this season. And though the Spaniard did exceedingly well, there is a need to sign a long-term replacement of Cole.
The Blues were keen to sign Southampton’s prodigy Luke Shaw, but it seems like Manchester United will be his preferred destination.
Chelsea therefore have shifted the attention to elsewhere and The Times reported the Blues are “looking to raise cash to bring in” Sevilla’s left-back Alberto Moreno, who is also a reported target of Liverpool.
Moreno has a release clause of £25m, while Sevilla sporting director, Monchi admitted: “Impossible to say he’ll not leave the club on summer”
Last month we reported Chelsea had lodged an opening bid of £15m for the defender. As it stands, Moreno could be on his way to Stamford Bride in the summer.
