Rangers can ill afford to lose ground to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race, which means that taking all three points is a must when they face Hibernian at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

Rangers vs Hibernian preview
Rangers were hammered by all and sundry following their tepid display in the Old Firm last week and cannot afford any more lackadaisical performances if they are to overhaul leaders Celtic. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side bounced back in solid fashion at the weekend by trouncing Hearts 5-0 and the Dutchman knows it’s imperative that they follow that win up against fellow Edinburgh team Hibernian.
Complacency had crept into the Gers’ game in the lead up to the 3-0 defeat at Parkhead, shown by the 96th minute equaliser they conceded to Ross County just days prior. But more positively, Rangers have not lost a single game at home in the Scottish Premiership, and considering Hibernian have only won three times on the road, the form and momentum is behind the hosts.
Hibs’ 1-0 loss to St. Mirren at the weekend marked the fourth game since the break where they have failed to find the back of the net, and as they face the second-best defensive team in the league, it is an area of concern. The pressure will be on Kevin Nisbet, in particular, to rediscover his form in front of goal, as that is going to be needed in order to get any result against the Gers.
