Manchester United have appointed Michael Carrick as their interim manager after the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Michael Carrick on his future as interim manager for Man United: “I’m prepared to do it for however long it takes – whether it’s one game, two games, right now I’m not sure but I’m not thinking about that, it’s about tomorrow”. 🔴 #MUFC @mjcritchley

The Premier League giants have been linked with the likes of Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane and Brendan Rodgers in recent weeks.
According to The Athletic, the former Manchester United captain Steve Bruce is apparently very keen on taking up the role of the interim manager and he believes that he could rally the dressing room and bring some much-needed stability.
Bruce was recently sacked by Newcastle United after their takeover and the 60-year-old is currently out of a job.

There is no doubt that the former Newcastle manager knows the club well and he is a far more experienced manager compared to Carrick. However, the Manchester United fans are likely to be disappointed with his appointment given his underwhelming spell at Newcastle.
Bruce lost the trust of the Newcastle fanbase during his time at St James’s Park and he was criticised heavily for his negative style of football.
At a club like Manchester United, the expectations are a lot higher and there is no evidence to suggest that Bruce would succeed at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are in need of someone who is a seasoned winner and would command the respect of the dressing room. Furthermore, Manchester United will be expected to play an attacking brand of football and Bruce’s reactive philosophy is unlikely to go down well with the fans and the players.
The Manchester United hierarchy must look to bring in a proven manager to replace Solskjaer. Even the appointment of Carrick can be labelled as a gamble and it will be interesting to see how things work out over the next few weeks.
The likes of Pochettino, Zidane, Rodgers and Ten Hag are certainly far more proven and safer options.
