Burnley striker Chris Wood has revealed that he is looking forward to scoring goals for his club in the Europa League next season. The Clarets earned the right to play in the second-tier European club competition after they impressively finished the Premier League in 7th position under Sean Dyche last season.

After joining the club from Leeds United early last season, the New Zealand international Wood had a decent season as he went on to score 10 goals from 24 Premier League appearances for the club.

At 26-years-old, Wood is also perhaps at the peak of his career and he will be hoping to score many goals during the upcoming season.

The club will be hoping that he can continue to deliver during the upcoming season. Wood has previously played in and scored two goals in the Europa League when he turned out for Birmingham City as a 19-year-old during the 2011-12 season.

When reflecting on the challenge of playing in the Europa League next season, Wood said according to the Lancashire Telegraph:“I scored a couple in Europe, which was nice, and hopefully there’ll be a lot more to come.

“We got to the group stages and we did quite well in the group stages, which is nice. It’s a different feel to it, a lot more travelling, but it’s good fun and I’m sure the fans will enjoy themselves.

“For us players it’s just another game in a different location. We just treat it as another game.

“We want the fans to go and enjoy themselves and have loads of trips away around Europe, that would be fantastic.

“But we’ll go there and be professional and do the job.”
