Glasgow Rangers have been active in the summer transfer window and Steven Gerrard should look to bring his former Liverpool teammate Lazar Markovic to Ibrox.
Markovic was one of Europe’s sought after players when he joined Liverpool for a fee in the region of £20 million, signed by the then Reds manager Brendan Rodgers.
However, he has struggled to live up to the hype but remains under contract at Liverpool. He has no future at the Anfield club, but Liverpool will be looking to sell him this summer.
According to reports from the Liverpool Echo, Markovic will be sold for a fraction of the figure he signed for. In fact, Liverpool could sell him at a minimal price if any club is interested at all.
There could also be an option to sign him on loan. The Serbian winger has made 22 appearances for his country, and certainly has the age on his side to resurrect his career.
Anderlecht and Galatasaray were both interested, but Rangers can snap him up with the Gerrard factor on their side.
In recent years, Markovic has spent loan spells at Turkey and Portugal, but Gerrard could get the best of him at Rangers.
He is still a very good player and if Rangers can sign him at a bargain transfer fee, if at all, it could prove to be a smart signing from Gerrard.
