Chelsea have been linked with several midfielders lately and the latest name is that of the Bayern Munich midfielder, Arturo Vidal.
According to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, Antonio Conte has finally convinced the Chelsea board to sign the former Juventus star in the summer. Apparently, the Chelsea board have now agreed to move for the player.
The newspaper claims that Conte has intensified talks to sign the Bayern Munich midfielder and has had telephone conversations with the player. Vidal has apparently informed Conte that he wishes to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich before deciding on a move.
Furthermore, the report reveals that Arturo Vidal has already started taking English lessons. They have also quoted a supposed Chelsea source claiming that Chelsea have been following Arturo Vidal for a while and that the Blues will take him to England.
El Mercurio believes that Vidal will cost around £56m. The Chilean has a contract at Bayern Munich until 2019 and has struggled to replicate his form from Juventus ever since he joined the Germans.
Vidal has worked with Conte at Juventus and played his best football under the Italian’s management. Conte is well aware of the player’s weaknesses and strengths and could be instrumental in bringing out the player’s best form once again.
As for Chelsea, the Chilean would be a world-class signing if the Blues can pull it off. The Blues certainly have the resources to complete the move.
